The Five Project for International Autism and Disability Support (FIVE) is committed to helping to strengthen the capacity of families and educational programs in China to meet the needs of individuals with disabilities, with a focus on developmental disabilities such as autism. In addition to direct training and consultation, FIVE provides written and video information and materials to help teachers and parents better understand effective strategies for teaching individuals with autism (available in our resources section).
In conjunction with two local parents in Nanjing, China, FIVE also established a support group in 2008, which has been running regularly since January 2008. The group welcomes adolescents and young adults with autism, mental health challenges, and developmental disabilities, and their parents, and each meeting serves approximately 25 families, many of whom have been attending for over 10 years consistently.
